okay, let’s be organized about this.

draco: i headcanon draco as chatty, dramatic, def extroverted, super easy for any sort of affection (going from supreme “special little guy” doting from his parents to “oh he’s evil actually” in the larger world means he’s genuinely shocked when he’s not immediately adored). i usually pick brainy/puzzle-y sorts of jobs for him because i think he likes to talk and likes to know more than other people, so he’s suited for something where he can be an expert. he’s a gemini sun and (in my headcanon, obvs) a pisces moon. i always imagine draco a little unhinged/ridiculous and not really good at hiding his emotions (he always made them very clear in canon iirc, truly never got the ~ice prince thing), even if he does obfuscate with sarcasm and humor a lot.

harry: my harry headcanons are all about him being a bit of a mess after the war. he very much wants to be removed from the center of attention, but he loves being around people and wants to be surrounded by friends as much as possible. it’s hard for him to trust freely given affection and it can make him a little uncomfortable, but he also craves it. he finds it nearly impossible to ask for things but he will stand up for himself and set boundaries. my ideal harry job really is professor or teacher or something with kids; he’s so good at commanding attention and then using it constructively. he’s protective and jealous and possessive when he forms attachments because he’s afraid of losing people/still can’t quite believe people love him back for keeps. and he’s funny and smart in a lot of practical ways, if not as emotionally aware as he could be. and when he is aware of his emotions, he’s way better at facing them head-on; it can just take him a bit to figure it out. in my heart he’s an aquarius moon, i love that combo with a leo sun for him.

okay *cracks knuckles* let's do drarry headcanons too:

they fight a lot, ranging from enjoyable bickering to really mean stuff; they are both particularly good at knowing just what to say to hurt the most, then regret it later on.
draco holds grudges like you wouldn't believe and he is petty af; harry gets over things pretty quickly (though he's petty too), but rarely just lets draco off the hook. they get better at apologizing the longer they're together.
this is contrary to how veela harry went, and i do like to switch it up, but i generally see harry as the one doing the chasing just because i think he's better able to confront his own feelings and take action on them. he has less patience for pining; if it takes him longer to figure out his feelings, he's more willing to just go for it. draco will figure out his feelings and then sit on them out of fear or pride or self-preservation. he's a runner for sure.
i don't ever really subscribe to "draco/harry was in love with harry/draco all through school"; i acknowledge attraction, but i never like to discount or undersell that they hated each other. you can hate someone you're attracted to! i'm all about the "ugh i'm so mad i'm attracted to you this is terrible i'm furious" track for both of them. and draco would never admit to being attracted to harry at school lol, no matter what.
seriously, i like going from "wow you genuinely sucked" on both sides to a few years post-canon realization of "dammit i'm into you now". i like doing that work and seeing that work. it's more satisfying!
i think they're compatible in a lot of really nice ways. draco needs someone to hold him accountable, someone who will love all the mean, petty bits of him while at the same time expecting him to take responsibility for them. harry needs someone who doesn't put him on a pedestal, who takes him seriously as a person and not a mythic figure, to love him for exactly who he is at his core. he also needs someone really demonstrative and affectionate, which i think draco is just as a matter of course. harry is protective; draco loves to be protected. draco is doting because it's how he understands love; harry likes to be doted on but sometimes finds it difficult to believe he doesn't have to earn it.
draco helps harry learn about love as something you build, not just sacrificial. harry helps draco learn about love as a choice, not just transactional.
